June Hike
Who: Open to everyone in Newtown (not just scout packs)
What: Newtown Forest Association (NFA) Connecticut Trail Day Hike
Date: Saturday, 6/7 (Rain date: 6/8 at 1:00 p.m.)
Time: 10:00 a.m. - Noon
Where
: Holcombe Wildlife Preserve, Newtown, CT
Price: No Charge -- contributions to the NFA are greatly appreciated.
Hike Guide: Guides will be supplied by the NFA

Directions to Huntington State Park, Redding, CT from St. Rose:

- LEFT onto Church Hill Rd.
- Continue STRAIGHT to flagpole (in the middle of Main St.).
- Turn LEFT onto Main St.
- Turn RIGHT onto Rte 302 (Sugar Street). Continue for approx. 2.5 miles.
- LEFT onto Key Rock Rd.
- Follow Key Rock Rd. to intersection with Hattertown Rd. Go STRAIGHT at the stop sign at the intersection.
- Key Rock Rd. becomes Poverty Hollow Rd. Follow Poverty Hollow and go past the horse farm on your right.
- Turn RIGHT onto Hopewell Rd. and go approx. 2 miles to end.
- Turn RIGHT at stop sign onto Rte 58.
- Take immediate RIGHT onto Sunset Hill Rd (winding road with a sharp curve).
- Collis P. Huntington State Park is 0.8 miles on the RIGHT.
- We will meet in the parking lot near the two animal statues.


Directions to Holcombe Wildlife Preserve, Newtown, CT from St. Rose:

- LEFT onto Church Hill Rd.
- Continue STRAIGHT to flagpole (in the middle of Main St.).
- Go STRAIGHT across Main St onto West St.
- Turn RIGHT onto Castle Hill Rd.
- At stop sign go STRAIGHT.
- Go past the NFA sign on your left.
- The road forks -- Stay to the LEFT.
- At stop sign go STRAIGHT .
- Go past the NFA sign on your left where the big Red Barn is.
- The road will curve to the RIGHT.
- Look for #55 on your left (The hike will start and conclude at 55 Great Hill Road which is approximately ¼ mile past the big Red Barn).
- There is a driveway leading up the hill to the NFA office from the main parking area. Park in the main parking area or on the grass off this driveway.
